Sen. Hansen offers free 2011 tax preparation guides

LANSING — Residents of the 34th Senate District looking for a free tax preparation reference can obtain a copy of the latest Michigan Taxpayer’s Guide through Sen. Goeff Hansen’s website.

The guide, which is a reference for the 2011 tax year, is designed to help residents prepare their tax forms.

“Every year, the tax laws change,” said Hansen, R-Hart. “That is why I strongly encourage residents of Mason, Oceana, Newaygo and Muskegon counties to use this handy guide when preparing and filing their taxes. I’m glad to make the tax preparation guide available to all of my constituents.”

The booklet contains information on Michigan’s taxes and tax credits. Included is a year-long taxpayer’s calendar with reference to important tax dates and filing deadlines. Also inside are copies of the most commonly used tax forms, as well as addresses and phone numbers for obtaining state agency tax information assistance.

Free copies of the tax guides are available for residents of the 34th Senate District on Hansen’s Web site at: www.senatorgoeffhansen.com. Anyone without Internet access can obtain a free copy by contacting Hansen’s office toll free at 1-866-305-2134.

Sen. Hansen offers comments following the 2012 State of the State address

LANSING — After Gov. Rick Snyder’s annual State of the State address, Sen. Goeff Hansen, R-Hart, issued the following statement:

“I heard many positive things that will benefit my lakeshore district. We must build on the success of 2011 to continue to deliver real results for Michigan residents.

“I’m encouraged that jobs are being created in Michigan and my district and at a faster pace than the national average.

“The governor’s comments on elder abuse dovetail with my legislation that would make various process reforms in nursing homes – to reduce red tape and refocus on resident care.

“I also agree that Michigan must continue to be a customer-friendly state. Our residents are our customers and they deserve a responsive state government.

“There’s more work to be done and I look forward to partnering with Governor Snyder to position Michigan for further economic growth.”
